How the Le Mistral storm led to a brainstorm

If you follow me on LinkedIn, you might have seen a post I put on there during my recent Mediterranean cruise. Due to Le Mistral coming in, we had to miss out on docking at the beautiful Italian island of Sardinia – not a popular decision and certainly a difficult one for the captain, although it was made for the safety of the passengers.

This made me think about how, as business owners, we often also have to make decisions which may be hard for us, but ultimately benefit our clients. In today’s challenging times, we need more than ever to be flexible, agile and put our clients first if we’re to move on successfully in business. So, as we sailed towards Gibraltar for an unexpected extended stay, I took the opportunity to take a fresh look at my plans for the rest of the year. And I had an idea!

As you may know, I don’t often run public social media courses as I tend to focus on private training groups and one-to-one coaching and mentoring these days. However, I’ve made the decision to make my services accessible through a new series of four workshops, which are open to anyone to join. The sessions will all take place in September 2023.

The idea is to offer bite-sized learning at a cost-effective rate, to enable people both inside and outside my normal target client groups to take advantage of growing their social media skills and knowledge at an affordable price.

So, what will the Bite-sized Workshops be all about? Well, I’ll be taking a very generalist approach (i.e., not platform or sector-specific), and focusing on my own four core principles for social media success, which can be applied to any and all social media platforms.

Here’s what we’ll be looking at each week, and when:

  1. Planning for social media success – Thursday 7th September at 12 noon
  2. Creating engaging content – Tuesday 12th September at 12 noon
  3. Engagement strategies – Monday 18th September at 1pm
  4. Conversion planning – Tuesday 26th September at 12 noon

Each session will be hosted live on Zoom, so you’ll have the chance to ask questions and interact with your fellow delegates. If you can’t make all the workshops, don’t worry – they’ll all be recorded, so provided you’ve paid to attend the session in question, you’ll automatically be sent the recording afterwards.

Which brings me to the pricing of the course. Each workshop costs just £45 and you can attend as few or as many as you like. If you want to attend all four sessions, you’ll pay a reduced price of just £175. However, you must book by 31st August to qualify for these special Early Bird booking prices, as the cost will go up to £65 per session (£220 for all four)  on 1st September.

I’m really excited about offering this course and I hope to welcome delegates from a variety of business types and sectors to share my social media know-how and help you boost your businesses. It’s a great opportunity to upskill yourself through manageable chunks of bite-sized learning, even if you’re not available to physically attend all the sessions. (I personally feel that today’s environment is so competitive, keeping up with your CPD is imperative!)
