OK, so what’s the V word I hear you cry? Well, if you’ve spoken to me recently, you may already have an inkling: it’s ‘V for visibility.’ In short, I think 2026 is going to be all about creating visibility for business owners across the UK, especially in light of the ongoing turbulence in our economy (although there are signs it may be recovering, fingers crossed…).
So, what exactly do I mean by ‘visibility’? If you read my December 2025 blog, you may remember that I talked about the importance of making potential clients aware of exactly who you are, what you do, who you work with and how you help them. And that’s visibility in a nutshell.
One key area is gaining a full understanding of what you do, who needs it, and when or how often. That may sound obvious, but believe me, it really will help to devote a little time to giving this some thought. For example, take two businesses: one who sells stationery and another who sells home extensions and conservatories.
The first business’ clients will probably need their services multiple times during the year, whilst the second one will likely work with most clients on a one-off basis. There’s also the fact that the first company probably has a B2B client base, whilst the second will mostly work with consumers (B2C). So, a completely different marketing strategy would be needed for each business.
As we’re still relatively near the start of 2026 (where has January gone?!), why not make it your New Year’s resolution to take a step back from your business and get a real feel for who your ideal clients are – and there may be two or more segments you need to target – what are their needs, and how often they’ll need your products or services. Once you’ve nailed all that down, it’s time to think about the best ways to find, connect and engage with them.
A useful approach to multichannel marketing is to look at building your business like creating a Great British Bake Off-style ‘showstopper’ cake. First, you create the recipe, which is the idea or concept for your business. Next you make the cake, i.e., set up and launch your new venture. Then, it’s time to ice the cake, or for your business, put a robust sales and marketing strategy and plan in place.
Once this is done, it’s time to add multiple layers to the cake or, in other words, marketing your business in multiple ways, and on a variety of platforms, to attract the different audiences you’re looking to work with. And bingo! You’re set for success.
Well, I hope that all made sense. I also hope you’re ready to hear a lot more from me about visibility in 2026; in fact, there’s a risk I might drive you mad with it as the year goes on!
New workshop coming up: ‘Using your personal Facebook profile to attract clients’
It’s a fact that company Facebook pages gain far less engagement than personal profiles (the same goes for LinkedIn). That’s why I’ve created a brand new online workshop to help you learn how to use your personal Facebook profile to transform your online results and gain more clients.
The session will take place on Monday 23rd February from 11:30am to 1pm. During this time, we’ll look at boosting your Facebook profile so it does the selling for you, posting the right content, how to attract new followers and, crucially, how to turn them into paying clients – all without the hard sell.
It’ll be an interactive session where you’ll put what you’re learning into action. You’ll also receive a workbook to help you prepare for and get the most from the session. All you’ll need is an existing personal Facebook profile, and a desire to find out how to use it professionally to gain new clients in a natural, non-pushy way.
The session costs just £49 per person: a small price to pay for learning the secrets of how your personal Facebook profile can be a very powerful way to attract new business, for free. You’ll leave the workshop with a clear, simple action plan you can put in motion straightaway, and the confidence to get the results you want from Facebook.
